A Warning to fellow homemaker/homeschool bloggers!
I have come across several other homemakers/homeschooler’s blogs that leave me wondering “what’s wrong with this picture?!” Allow me to elaborate…I’m all for homemaking and homeshcooling, after all I am a homemaker AND homeschooler; but when it becomes the center/core of our lives something went severely wrong. God is clear HE should be our number one priority and that reflects in the way we raise our kids and what we stand for. I am disappointed to find that fellow believers compromising the word of God for political correctness. I am disheartened at the lack of understanding of God’s word and what He requires. How are we supposed to impart it to our children as Deut 6:6-7 states if we ourselves don’t know it? As a follower of Christ my number one priority before my husband and children is to KNOW the Word of God. To know His will, to get my PhD in theology. Not because I went to some school and they bestowed upon me a fancy diploma printed on nothing much more expensive than printer paper, but because I have been spending time at His feet. We talk to God when we pray, we LISTEN to and LEARN about God and His ways when we READ and STUDY the Bible. If you are not working to getting your PhD in all things God, then your priorities need to be re-evaluated. When you start advocating that “we are not to judge” blah blah blah and misquote scripture or can’t sum up the courage to stand up and say “this is wrong and it is a sin” but instead shy away out of fear of offending someone and being politically incorrect, something is wrong at the very core of your beliefs. The very beliefs that spring out of an intimate walk with him.
I see so many moms blogging about everything under the sun except Theology. They can’t even debate Theology (the study of God, His Word) with you. This is tragic. How are we to train equipped, sound biblical young men/ladies if we ourselves can’t hold our own concerning issues at the present age? As moms we tend to think, “theology is for scholars”…and it is not so. We all have the responsibility to study to show ourselves approved the Bible says. How many dishes you do, how many art and crafts projects you do, what curriculum you use, how well educated your children are matters NOT is your theology is unsound. We tend to take pride in homeschooling and being homemakers yet that is secondary to our primary call to be disciples. If WE are not sound in doctrine, our children will NOT be sound in doctrine and you are just training “good, moral children.” Any unsaved, dedicated mother can do that. What’s the difference in YOUR home? Do your children know you for being a “theologian”, knowing God intimately or do they JUST know you as the dedicated lady who does my dishes and cleans my socks?
I know for a fact that part of the issue of not wanting to address Theology in a homemaker/homeschooler’s blog is that you wont have too many readers. We live in a day and age where compromise is a must if popularity is to be achieved. Some mom bloggers wont dare to go against the flow because they know they will lose some readers. To you, I say so what?! Your motives must be pure before God and if you just want an audience, your readers will know. If you don’t care about drawing a crowd but your main purpose is to bring your readers closer to Christ, they will know as well. Yes you are a homemaker…GREAT, YES you are a homeschooler…AWESOME, those things are wonderful and virtuous but those titles do not compare in importance to being a THEOLOGIAN: A STUDENT OF GOD!
We can’t impart what we don’t possess!
Claiming ignorance in order not to stand up for what’s RIGHT is not a noble thing, it is indeed the opposite.
